Local business the key to Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day success

01 Aug 2024

Lewis Land, owner of Redcliffe's iconic The Belvedere and The Komo hotels, has helped kickstart the 2024 Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day, returning as Impact Partner to match donations made by the general public.

The call is now out for other Moreton Bay business leaders to join the campaign and help push Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital’s fundraising tally past the $1 million mark.

“Everyone that has worked for us has had a connection to the hospital and how could you not say: ‘It's important to them, it's important to us’?” said Lewis Land Queensland Regional Manager, Chris Allison.

“We consider there is no more important facility in the entire community than the Redcliffe Hospital.”

Giving Day is the major fundraising campaign for Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital, a partnership between the RBWH Foundation and Redcliffe Hospital.

Funds raised support life-changing health research, staff wellbeing and patient care initiatives that fall outside the scope of government funding. Every donation received by 29 August will be doubled by Giving Day Impact Partners, such as Lewis Land, for twice the impact. Donations can be made online at www.raiseitforredcliffe.com.au

“Having the support of corporate leaders, such as Lewis Land, makes such a difference in this wonderful community,” said RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske.

“The impact of that generosity is felt each and every day through access to vital equipment, transformative research and those small comforts that make difficult times easier to bear.”

The extraordinary power of giving by Moreton Bay over the past three has renovated the hospital’s Rehabilitation and Stroke Unit common areas, will start refurbishment of the Palliative Care Unit common areas and will now focus on adding a touch of home to the Children’s Ward playroom and parent lounge.

“We have the best healthcare system in the world,” said Chris Allison.

“But when there's an opportunity to make it better, and private enterprise sometimes has the means to do that, then I think we should.”
